Winter Blankets Outreach

As the mercury dips in the city, those who make a living by daily waging and seeking alms, the abandoned and homeless underprivileged individuals need extra layers to beat the cold. On Saturday, January 1, 2022, DCI undertook a micro–Winter Blankets Outreach Program to provide aid to those who form the economically weaker section of the society.

Volunteers reached out to about 80 daily wagers in Dhantola village, those who live by seeking alms, the homeless at Haridev Road, Kachari Basti Road, GMC Hospital Road and Beltola-Basistha Road.

Distribution at Dhantola was carried out under the supervision of Gram Pradhan Shri Ashwini Rabha. “It is nice that such an intervention has been undertaken to comfort the needy. I welcome more such and other kinds of aids that this organization may link us with. I shall be ever available to come of help.”

Funds for Winter Blankets Outreach Program was crowdsourced and led by Abdul Hasib and Simanta Bora with a dedicated group of doner and volunteers from the community. The effort was to localize the Sustainable Development Goals and help people cope with winter.
