Water and Sanitation: Baseline Survey Report
DCI prepared a Baseline Survey Report for baseline survey conducted by the North East Initiative Development Agency (NEIDA) to estimate access to basic water, sanitation, hygiene and associated knowledge, attitude and practices in situ in Mizoram. The survey was conducted in the twin districts of Lunglei and Lawngtlai in 2,044 households across five blocks, namely Chawngte (3 villages), Lawngtlai (2 villages), Lunglei (13 villages), Lungsen (16 villages) and West Bunghmun (6 villages) in Mizoram as sample.
The survey was a precursor to the proposed Integrated Drinking Water Project designed to be implemented in partnership with Jal Jeevan Mission and the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) with support from the Tata Trusts as a component of Tata Water Mission. The project ensures safe drinking water to 40 villages in the twin districts of Lunglei and Lawngtlai covering 2240 households through Functional Household Tap Connectivity (FHTC).
NEIDA is the nodal agency of Tata Trusts for interventions in the states of Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram. The focus areas are livelihood (agriculture, piggery, and eco-tourism), sports, skill building, WaSH, and education.
